Honoring the Light – Meditation Mutha

A few weeks ago my mom and I went to a women’s strawberry full moon celebration that my friend Taylor was holding. She set up a beautiful event where we had the opportunity to dress up in goddess attire, drink cacao and visualize everything we wanted to invite into our lives. It was an incredible way to honor the sacred moon energy.

As we move through life, it’s easy to forget that we are deeply connected to something greater — an ancient rhythm, a cosmic heartbeat that pulses through the Earth and sky. Just as our lungs rise and fall with each breath, so does the planet move in cycles powerfully, and divinely timed.

We are blessed to witness the full moon and new moon, each bringing its own wisdom. The full moon lighting up what’s ready to be seen and released, and the new moon inviting us inward to plant fresh seeds of intention. The equinoxes — spring and fall — bring balance, a sacred pause between light and dark, growth and letting go. And the solstices — summer and winter — mark the turning points of the sun’s journey, illuminating what is beginning and what is completing.

These celestial moments are invitations to return to ourselves. When we take time to acknowledge and honor these turning points, we attune to the natural energy that surrounds us and lives within us. By pausing to celebrate them, we draw in their power, allowing them to nourish our spirit, guide our intentions, and connect us more deeply to the rhythm of life.

And now, we stand at the Summer Solstice — the longest day and the shortest night of the year. This is a moment of radiant light, of fullness, of life bursting into its highest expression. In the Northern Hemisphere, the Summer Solstice is a celebration of the sun at its peak — a time of illumination, abundance, vitality, and joy.

Since ancient times, cultures across the globe have honored the solstice with rituals, feasts, fire ceremonies, and dance. The Druids gathered at Stonehenge, aligning themselves with the rising sun. Indigenous communities lit bonfires to honor the energy of transformation and protection. In Scandinavia, people wore flower crowns, sang songs, and celebrated fertility and the abundance of nature.

These rituals were expressions of deep reverence for the Earth, the cosmos, and the soul. And they still hold powerful meaning today.

This solstice, give yourself the gift of presence and celebration. Here are some ways to honor this sacred day:

Light a Fire or Candle – The solstice is a festival of light. Let a flame symbolize the light within you. As you watch it flicker, reflect on what has grown in your life this year. What are you proud of? What do you want to carry forward?

Spend Time in Nature – Walk barefoot in the grass, swim in a river, or lie in the sun. Let yourself receive the fullness of the Earth’s energy. Feel your own body as an extension of the land and sky.

Create a Solstice Ritual – Write down what you are ready to release and burn it safely. Or, write intentions for the next season and plant them in the soil.

As the wheel of the year turns again, may you feel the warmth of the sun not just on your skin, but in your spirit. You are a part of this great, glowing, miraculous dance — and your light is needed now more than ever.
