A Drive Down Memory Lane – Meditation Mutha

Bessie wasn’t just a car, she was family. She supported three generations of women including my mom, then me, and finally my daughter starting at age 16. When I really sit with that, it feels nothing short of miraculous. One little car carried all of us through so many years, so many chapters.

She witnessed baby seats, booster seats and was eventually covered in stickers. She lead us on early morning drives and late-night talks. She heard our laughter, worries, secrets and dreams. She moved with us through transitions, milestones, and the everyday moments that became the fabric of our lives.

And through it all she never let us down. Except maybe when the ceiling liner drooped, the door panel fell off and the car stopped locking. But, who needs all that anyway? Bessie was a gem. Right now, my heart is full because we just relocated good old Bessie, our faithful 2007 Volkswagen Jetta to a great home.

Letting her go this week brings up a surprising swell of gratitude. Gratitude for the protection of three generations for so many years.

It makes me think about how often gratitude shows up in the small things, the everyday things that are reminders that life is always holding us.

As Thanksgiving approaches, many of us turn our hearts toward thankfulness. Moments like this remind me that gratitude isn’t meant for just one season. It’s something we can weave into every single day.

Gratitude is not just for the holiday season. Living in Gratitude is a lifestyle choice where you slow down to notice all of the abundances in your life and show great appreciation for the gifts you receive on a daily basis. When you are grateful you elevate to the highest vibrational state of existence. The more grateful you are the more abundance you receive. This is the law of the universe. Come join me for this week’s 17-minute floor yoga class, Yoga for Living in Gratitude, where we will use visualization and movement to show deep appreciation for the small and big gifts in our life. Enjoy!
