Lessons from Costa Rica – Meditation Mutha

We just returned from our 14th Annual Costa Rica Retreat, and our hearts are full, our spirits lifted, and our gratitude overflowing.

To everyone who joined us on this magical journey, we thank you. You brought your open hearts, your laughter, your courage, and your willingness to dive into adventure and stillness.

From hiking to hidden waterfalls and walks on the beach to the simplicity of quiet mornings with the sound of the waves, this year was the perfect blend of aliveness and ease.

And you know what truly stood out for me?

The power of rest.

After months of going, doing, planning, and showing up for everyone else, it felt so nourishing to just be. For the first time in a while, I sat by the pool with a book in hand, feet up, sun on my face, and let the world slow down. It reminded me how essential stillness is for our physical, mental and emotional health.

Sometimes we forget that rest is productive. That doing nothing is doing something. That in the quiet, our bodies repair, our creativity returns, and our hearts remember who we are. As Costa Ricans say, it’s the Pura Vida way of life.

So as you return home from your summer vacation tanned and happy, remember to incorporate the adventure and the nap. Say yes to the hike and the hammock. Make space for the joy and the deep exhale.

Cheers to honoring all the parts of us! Pura vida!
